so when i first got the tour as part of interviewing for hospital dishwasher, i saw bikes in the hallway in the staff areas and i was like "oh fuck nice, that answers my question"
and then we get to the end of my two ish hours job shadowing and i'm talking with the gal doing the hiring and i mention "the only question i had was answered when i saw bikes in the hall" and then she fires back with "what kind of bike is it" turns out you're onjly allowed to stash it inside if you have an ebike, because
Lupi11:13 AM
"electric" or something idk
my bicycles are early 2000s hardtail mtbs
so, it separates the people with enough money for cycling to be a luxury boutique mode of transport from my poor ass with my hand-me-down specialized rockhopper my dad got from his local bike shop in 2004
who do it for necessity
Lupi11:15 AM
who have learned that if they want too continue to use the city bus alongside their bicycle, they can never electrify them because the transit authority banned ebikes on front racks
for fire risk
bike commuting (gentrified) vs bike commuting (i'm broke)

i don't mean to have contempt for ebikes in an increasing number of ways but i swear it keeps happening

i get annoyed at the dumbasses who jailbreak theirs and thumb throttle down the rail trail at over 20 and just completely startle the shit out of you thats for sure

in reply to @lupi's post:

What on earth is the rationale for e-bikes only indoors? Other than an arbitrary filter on “we don’t want too many bikes inside but the boss wants to park his inside so it doesn’t get stolen”?

if they get rained on it sucks or something because theyre electrical (i'm sure the real rationale is "they're expensive and we have to reimburse harder if they get stolen" or something)
