random thought but playing vrchat everyone likes to be really small and so nobody ends up being small bc everyone is small and then u join with a 1.6m avatar and suddenly you're the tallest in the room by far

u just gotta keep getting smaller if u wanna be small compared to others and it's a never ending cycle

funnily enough, I prefer just being a specific size: about 1m tall. I don't mind if everyone else in the room is that size, either, because it means there's this comfort in being around others who Get It.

I can't reach the displays for the cool things in the museum and I have to jump up and down to see it and somehow this feels right

An amusing flip-side of this: If you join with a fairly average-sized avatar, then everyone else that you meet will either be tiny or huge, according to their preferences. And then you get to be the counterexample/anchor to everyone's scale preferences, and that can be kind of fun in its own way

in reply to @yaodema's post:

i get what you mean yeah :3 it does feel good to have the struggles your correct anatomy should bring you, along with the joys

also this wasn't meant as a serious post just randomly thinking about how every session i do everyone ends up way shorter than they started out, save for the few peeps who prefer being big :3

eheh, I forgot about how avatar scaling is a thing now, oops! yeah that'd help a bit wouldn't it

also now remembering it's the reason why, if it really becomes impossible for me to stick to the proper height on the av, I can just make it bigger. in the museums I was talking about (ShaderFES sites) this is sometimes necessary, and it'd be nice to not have to swap out entirely

In case you haven't picked it up yet, an alternative to being bigger here would be to snag OVR Advanced Settings, which lets you do playspace adjustment.

In practice, this means that instead of becoming tall, you can set a keybind that will let you just clamber up the walls or furniture to reach the controls.
