One thing I remember being done on Tumblr was putting the plaintext under the cut, prefaced with "pt:" usually - could be done here with collapsible text or something probably? This would probably be the best way to deal with it, actually.

Anything fancier using ARIA or toggling details elements runs the risk of being more even more inaccessible to screen readers and other assistive software.

i feel there was a way to... use a div, somehow, to make screen readers ignore the displayed text and then have like, the translated text in 0px flagged visible to screenreaders

i've seen it used for css crimes but i've never used it mooself so i don't know how it works
