There's fascination in the intersection of environmentalism, anti-capitalism, & cultural rights, especially right-to-repair. Oftentimes the best move you can do to help out the environment is to keep existing hardware going, but that butts up against a computing world that is hostile to old hardware
Software is not fundamentally hostile to old hardware, but oh my goodness the incentives of the boardroom sure are.
