For the record, personally I'm very approachable in IM, it's just social media that I'm wary about. But I do feel the same from the other side, there are some friends here that only shared their socials and I only shared IMs, and all I can do is hope we meet again someday!
Same. There are people saying they’ll only be on like, FA and Mastodon and other ‘closed gardens’, there are some saying they’ll never use those because problems(?), and I’m just like, idk what to do! I don’t wanna lost contact with these nice folks, but I also feel like I don’t know anyone well enough to like, follow them around into their other spaces :/ I’ve set up a bluesky but idk if that’s gonna work out even, cohost really was one-of-a-kind
See to me FA and fediverse/Mastodon are places I feel comfy. The thing that destroys me is when people say "Hey I'll only be on Instagram now" which fucks me up because it intimidates me and the vibes seem bad on that website.
I would recommend trying to learn "Masto" but maybe not on "Mastodon" itself, preferably on a different fediverse instance. I'm on https://chitter.xyz but there are other furry-run ones if you look around a bit.
