for most crimes, the reason is twofold: cohost becomes a place where an illegal act was discussed (law enforcers tend to notice that quick) and you make crimedoing public, endangering anyone vaguelly (willingly or unwillingly) involved in the theoretical or actual crime, as well as jeopardizing the plan if you were actually going to do it (mentioning for the sake of completeness).

for discussing crimes someone did in public that are on the news, "don't post about crimes" doesn't tend to apply as a rule, except for things like encouraging doing it again, or saying "I'm gonna be the one to do it right", etc. Basically if you loop back to the "posting about doing crimes" part, pull back.

This only explains my own interpretation of the original post, though (which I do agree with), and I could be wrong in my interpretation.
