Making games, rarely finishing

Hey, I've been playing SOVL recently. It's good. It's someone looking at Games Workshop's best product - Warhammer Fantasy Battles (before Age of Sigmar) and saying, that's neat. The game is free on Steam, which means it's very easy to try. But it also has paid DLC to get access to some of the wilder factions. I'm eyeing the skaven ratkin army right now.

I think it also strikes a good balance in the dice-fiddliness department. It has simplified the WHFB system a little (armour and toughness is rolled into one thing) and handles all the math for you, but the dice are still on screen, you get to press a button to see them randomize. It's all very clear and user friendly, so you can concentrate on being on your bullshit, like using your superior movement to keep a tough orc warrior blob spinning around itself by always being juuuust out of charge angle, while distant artillery pelts it with cannonballs.

You should play it, it's a good time.
also there's a generated campaign with in-run progression, so it's not just battles out of context

They do use AI images in the game, which is sad.
