what's that? you've never met a Fyxen before? oh, Elly has such wonderful things to show you...

Fyxen (FEE-zen, more commonly FYE-zen) are a mysterious race with a largely unknown past; though a number of monuments and ruins of Fyxen origin have been discovered, they are devoid of any meaningful text or symbolism, and every slate and plaque that should have text on it seems to have been intentionally--and microscopically--scrubbed clean.

Fxyen are quite different from every other sapient species on the planet in several ways. they have no concept of biological sex; a Fyxen can produce offspring with any other individual. many Fyxen that have integrated themselves into other societies have chosen to adopt pronouns that they feel match their personalities (Elly is she/they; most genderless Fyxen prefer they/them). they have three fingers on each hand and three toes on each foot; though typically plantigrade, their foot/leg structure allows them to shift into a pseudo-digitigrade mode and move quickly and quietly on their toes with minimal effort. most Fyxen also possess a small amount of natural "magic", which they often use to manifest dazzling light shows or navigate dark spaces (though this requires a great deal of focus and energy, which must be built up over time). unusually adept magic users are sometimes called "ryx-nyu", or "keepers of the stars".

Fyxen are generally humble and good-natured, and have lived peacefully with the planet's many other species for as long as anyone can remember. though some are bitter about the loss of their history, most are content to simply do their best in the present and look towards the future with hope and optimism.
