OZ-13MS Gundam Epyon
Gundam Epyon
Difficulty β β β β
Range: Close-Range
HP: 900
Dash Limit: 1
Shield: 600
A powerful melee suit designed by Treize Khushrenada based on the Tallgeese and the Gundams, equipped with a custom version of the Zero System.
Weapon and Skill
Main Weapon: Large Beam Saber
Main Action:
Swing your Large Beam Saber in a wide arc, dealing damage and knocking enemies back.
Sub Action:
Hold your shield in front of you while using your primary weapon. Absorbs a set amount of damage before breaking and regenerates over time.
I struggled a bit on deciding if the main action should have anything attached to it, but decided that it being a melee unit with a shield that can also attack while it's up would be plenty. Though making it so it can't attack with its shield up might also be fine, but maybe it'd need more HP at that point.
G-Maneuver: Zero System
Increases movement speed and both damage and reach of primary weapon. Enemies reduced to 0 HP are destroyed rather than disabled.
Simple but effective, give the suit with a big sword a bigger and more dangerous sword as part of the G-Maneuver. The speed and damage boost also applies to Mobile Armor mode, as well, letting it move in and out faster and hit more targets with its Epyon Claw.
Active Skill 01: Transform
Transform into a Mobile Armor to fly for a short time and changes main weapon to Epyon Claw. Using Heat Rod ends this effect early.
Main Action:
Charge forward for a short time, deflecting attacks from the front for the duration. Deals damage and knockback to enemies on hit.
Sub Action:
End the charge early to do a spinning attack that knocks back the target, inflicting burning damage over time for a short period on enemies hit.
The big idea that got me thinking about Epyon as a melee option - a third Transforming suit that's melee-focused. Since it wouldn't be able to use its sword in this mode, I had the idea that it basically gets a variant on Guntank's charge during it instead.
Active Skill 02: Heat Rod
Uncoil the Heat Rod to stun and inflict burning damage over time for a short period to the first enemy hit before pulling yourself to them. Your shield is disabled during this action.
Inverse Sea Snake lite. The range for this would be shorter than Marasai's - perhaps half as much, even, putting it at 100m - and doesn't have a follow-up to lengthen its stun. Its damage is also burn, so it has much less immediate combo threat as well.

I know we only just got the Heavyarms Custom - and I had another theorycraft for the Deathscythe Hell - but I am apparently not done with ideas to bring more Wing suits into Gundam Evolution. This time it's my personal favorite suit from that series and potentially the first suit to actually utilize a Beam Saber as its weapon. Shocking, I know.
While the basic concept of the suit seemed simple enough - melee suit that can transform like Asshimar and Methuss - actually figuring out the rest of the kit was surprisingly difficult for me for some reason. I knew it would have the sword, a mini Sea Snake-analog with the Heat Rod, and the ability to tackle-charge in Mobile Armor mode and... that was it.
It was actually talking with other Gundam Evolution fans that gave the idea for the G-Maneuver, along with having the Heat Rod do burning damage instead of just raw damage. Which I later decided would make for an interesting charge finisher for Mobile Armor mode as a sort of fusion of Guntank and Exia but with burning damage since it'd be basically hitting everything around it with the Heat Rod tail.
Fun fact: the idea to have the Heat Rod pull the Epyon to its target rather than vice versa was actually an idea I had for Master Gundam and its Beam Ribbon. But I have plenty of other fun ideas for that suit, so I felt Epyon could make better use of the concept. And it gives it that little bit more mobility outside of flight mode since I gave it only one Dash Meter.
What do you all think? Is there another suit you'd like to see in G-Evo? How would you adapt it into the game? Let me know!
