I am not against others using dishwashers, and I do not seek to dissuade anyone from using them.

My personal dislike of using dishwashers is for a practical reason: since most dishwashers kinda suck, you have to basically rinse your dishes to near clean before loading them. For what feels like 25% more effort, I can just scrub them with a sponge, and be good to go.

Will I use one in the future? Perhaps I will if/when I have a larger family. Right now, I only live with my wife, and dishes for two are totally manageable to do by hand. I do most of the cooking in my home, and if you "clean as you go" (i.e. while certain things are cooking, clean some of the prep dishware), it is usually possible to avoid a massive pile of dishes.

Do I have a brand preference? I don't really know. I would probably have to end up doing the same "research" I do for any significant purchase. The only thing I know I would not want is any sort of internet-connected "smart" dishwasher.
