good lord that was a hell of a surprise.

from what I'm hearing we all got backfooted by that trajectory, but i picked a uniquely silly spot that makes it look even more baffling, as I'm practically due west of it. it flew up and east, and then as it peaked from my perspective, it began its southward journey, leading to that weird looking hook/angle.

also yeah I didn't get to show y'all Relativity last year cause of the car accident but METHANE ROCKETS BURN BLUE-GREEN ITS SO WILD.

this photo, some pre-launch shots, and more are available for higher-res viewing and purchase on my photo site!

now for 4am special donuts treat

The colors in this one were almost as crazy as the Relativity launch I dind't get to shoot because it was the same deal, a methane fueled rocket in a night launch. It's wild how much difference there is even between these two, since the Terran had no solid boosters. And then there's stuff like Artemis, it was so bright you could read by it from fifteen miles away. Or the Delta IV which doesn't burn a normal hydrolox color because its flames are turned orange by all the ablative material inside the engine to keep it cool!

It's really a treat to be able to witness all of this, and I'm glad you enjoy 'em as much as I do posting em!

yeah i wasn't gonna go to cocoa beach for that when I can't drive there, and maybe i should've stuck to my guns and headed way north to the boat ramp in the middle of nowhere, or maybe i would've gotten cloudfucked like one of my friends who lives up that way did. We can't know what we'll get until we've got it, especially with the trajectory as unknown as it was today!

but even the best folks got the s ame angle just Closer and From The VAB roof so
