Oh Fuck i was obsessed with this site (and a few others with various ultralight aircraft plans) for like a year in high school. i was window shopping lumber to build a minimax plane lol. i forgot about this entirely. thank u
You know, here I was on a Thursday thinking about building a plane out of plywood and trashbags.
Praise the lord for such coincidences.
lmao i was so into kit and homebuilt planes when i was a literal child. still vaaaaguely wanna build an evans vp-2 — which until p recently had official plans available for like $20, although they stopped distribution them for i think mostly liability reasons — but somehow whenever i bring this up with my more woodworking oriented friends they just look Vaguely Concerned
( i'm p sure neither my mental acuity nor attention span is enough to get licensed tho anymore so i'd have to talk someone else into actually going through flight school .... )
ALSO there was a good joke piece in General Aviation Magazine ( or private pilot? one of the two ) about someone accidentally buying the plans for a 747 and trying to build one
... which is i guess the only way you could get a new one anymore the last just came off the assembly line ✈️🫡😔
"looks like at least one was built and flown" is exactly the level of information I want from a website like this, it would be a hassle to look it up on my own but it lets me put the planes on a scale from "hypothetically possible" to "it won't even function well enough that the way it kills you would be funny or exciting"
Honestly I'd have more respect for home-building a steam engine (and especially the boiler to go with it) than a pulse jet
A pulse jet just makes a lot of noise and fire, a steam boiler built or operated wrong becomes a pipe bomb
Also dang, seems the domain expired sometime not too long after your post. But at least it all seems to be archived on the wayback machine.
am...am I missing something? there's no site, it's just a placeholder for a domain squat?
