Preston Blair's Animation Book
Honest to god every fundemental I use in Ika and all my art, it's all in here clearly laid out
I started with this book in middle school, studied and practiced every day, not just drawing the lil dudes and their lessons, but after applying it to the things I loved, the characters from games I'd never see rendered like this
I've got it more than memorized: it's seeped into my muscle memory, how I express three dimensional objects, how they move before actually moving
If you study this and understand it, you can express almost any style of drawing, these translate to anime, hyper realistic, exaggerative abstract, anything
I also highly recommend this over say the nine old men in disney, who confuse things (appealing is not a fundemental lol) or have to spend seven times the words expressing what this 20 something pages of pictures does succinctly. Very useful supplemental learning after you've got the good cartooning base sense
Book's got great difficulty curve, start to finish. If you can't draw a circle or you can't get your fully finished OC to move quite right, it's got you!
Enjoy and if you do some, link me!!! I love seeing ppl's stuff, if you want help I can give pointers, an exclusive cohost feature 🤫😘
