Idc if like half of my tweets are just remarking on the chill nature here, it's such a missed thing in my life lol
The other day one of the site's founders I follow made a post about some non-cohost community drama I'm completely ignorant of, but he made a point about communities in general that tied to some stuff I've been thinking about for a while now. I left a reply that was basically "this a a tangent, but you got me thinking about such-and-such, blah dee blah" and someone shoved in to extrapolate basically the worst-take read of what I said. Basically just assuming I was posting a reaction to the specifics of this drama that I went out of my way to not reference at all. Long sorry short I left a couple responses, one pretty calm-headed and one that was basically "fuck out of here with that shit" and when I went back later in the day to read some other replies to the post the guy who was being a prick had straight up gotten his account deleted.
I know being a dick in the comments if one of the site's mods probably made him a higher priority target than any given shitty rando, but honest-to-god I don't think I've seen someone running a website take an active interest in pruning that kind of bad behavior since my forum days. I can acknowledge the fact that that kind of moderation could lead to some unearned-power dick-swinging (see also: my old forum days) but it just feels really nice to see someone who runs a community look at someone being just generally shitty, go "I don't want shittiness on my website" and then take action to improve the room.
SERIOUSLY just the fact the founders can go "No fuck this, not on my site" means the world to me, no "lets let hr/mods handle this" like some non-answer politician shit
Just flat out deciding "no this is my space" fuckin rules so much
