I have never played an Armored Core. They look sick, I've just never made the time for them, until now. I'm also not great at journaling things like my thoughts on new media. But I figured thjis would be a fun exercise.
I started playing on Thursday night and I'm still, it feels like, early in. For reference, the last big mission I did was Operation Wallclimber. I am, as it turns out, one of those motherfuckers who just keeps replaying the early missions until he's satisfied with his results. Going in I knew a bit about how different constructions work. I play a lot of dogfighting games and they've been on my mind, so I figured I'd probably be going for something fast and zippy. So far I don't really have a single "build" so much as a core set of mechanisms that I've been tweaking and experimenting with. Which, for a light platform, has mostly meant compromising on construction to fit whatever specific component I'm fixated on at the moment. I've gravitated towards close-range builds, but haven't made much use of the blade from the intro. Now that I've got some different platforms to play with I might actually set up a few builds, rather than a shifting assembly Something like the build above is definitely going to be a main for me, though.
I've also played around with the decal editor, but I'm not great with colors and collaging so I don't have a ton to show for it.
Got them with an SMG, dual-pod missile launcher, and blade/shotgun loadout using the chicken legs build. I think I would've benefited from looking at boosters a little more closely. Balteus' mortar was a real problem when I ran out of boost, but I think the most consistent issue I had was that I consistently ate 4-500 damage trying to dodge missile barrages. The last few runs it felt like it was down to execution. Phase 2 wasn't too bad once I learned to time my shots around the flame attacks.
Also, Story Stuff is Happening.
This game still whips.
