God the Jedi and Sith are actually sorta fuckin' boring. The Sith less so, but in general the extremity of their beliefs and the rules that surround them seeping into every piece of media just gets to me.

We need more grey area force users. We need more Jedi that are approached by the dark side and look at the contract and just say "mmm. Nah." and are still willing to kill and fuck and just party you know? The Jedi council approaches them and our cool Forceperson calls them fascist douchebags and force clutches their assholes shut and dismantles their lightsabres.

Every great Jedi approaches them and tells them they're wasting their life, their potential, and they're like "bitch, I am LIVING" as they swing a Wookie stripper off the pole to have a wild night because they know exactly who they are. Force users who are artists, Force users who are musicians, anything other than good monk, bad marauder.

Maybe there's extended reading, but honestly these motherfuckers dedicating themselves completely to the closest thing to Godhood in the universe is kinda tiring honestly.

Agreed. When the prequels came out it totally ruined the image of the Jedi I had in my mind as a kid. They went from this esoteric mystic sword masters to space cops that are just about as effective as the police force.

Listening to A More Civilized Age has pushed me farther down the path of “the Jedi really had it coming.” I do believe that the Good End to a Star Wars fan’s opinion is that all institutions must avoid ivory tower liberalism and sneering fascism with equal intent.

I'm not a big star wars fan, but like every story is more interesting when the Jedi aren't involved. At their best they're cops, at their worst a state sanctioned cult. Either way, ruining the moment to moment narrative with their mere presence

This is very much on my mind as I am currently playing a Force Sensitive in a Star Wars game and contemplating her personal arc.

So far it seems to be that she's the patient, jaded Knight (you know, the kind who Gets Stuff Done rather than sitting around in the Temple philosophizing and meditating all the time) to our impulsive. optimistic Padawan, which is deeply amusing to me as my character comes from a species who have had no prior experiences or connections with either side of the Jedi/Sith conflict, and the 'padawan' is an Order 66 survivor.

It wasn't until "The Last Jedi" I truly realised how much I'm bored anytime Star Wars does Jedi stuff, especially when came the big rant in the movie of "actually fuck the Jedi and the Sith, the Force isn't Good or Evil, it's literally a force of nature and people trying to gatekeep it are exactly the reason this whole bullshit started" which a lot of fans hated cuz they didn't want to hear that, but I thought "finally, yes, that's EXACTLY the problem with this!"

And then I realised all of my favourite actual things are "being a bounty hunter or courier or some regular dude evading the Empire", which is why I ended up really loving Solo, Rogue One and even Shadows of the Empire back in the day just for that vibe.
