Next Lancer session is (tentatively) scheduled for this weekend and I'm very excited about some of the prep work I get to do.

Or do, I'm not a cop and I can't physically stop you

The party is looking for a safe port to collect themselves and is headed for an independent city state on the sole habitable planet in the system, which is, admittedly, a place I spent a lot of time fiddling around with as a setting for fun.

Potential hooks for future missions once they arrive there include:

  • The Old City, buried beneath the gleaming towers of the new city. Rumor says there's a massive church somewhere deep among the underground access ways that a Horus sect operates out of.
  • Tensions between pirate bands and mercenary companies who have a home there, threatening to spill into the streets. Local security might be inclined to drive any fights into more reinforced areas of the city and let them play out there. The news stories make great entertainment, after all.
  • The industrial campus of the largest heavy industry company in the Rim, which collapsed violently (and in the case of their headquarters, literally explosively) hundreds of years ago. Private security has been working for years to close off the site and prevent treasure hunters from delving into a labyrinth of experimental technology, environmental hazards, and long-lost corporate secrets.
  • Exports out of the city are carried on massive, dual-track trains. Naturally, a vehicle this big and cumbersome is an easy target to pick off. But a vehicle that size is able to carried mechanized security, and the city has no shortage of mercenaries looking for a quick buck. Besides, you'd have to bring some real firepower to knock over one of those shipments.
