i have no substantial evidence to back this claim up, but i genuinely think they confiscate all computer parts (i had a computer case confiscated before) under the guise of "donator data protection" to hand them off as e-waste for tax benefits because this entire surplus store has to be operating at a loss when they're only selling <10% of their inventory pennies on the dollar and the rest gets send to landfill
also the hard drive makes the worst scratching sounds i've ever heard a drive make, i have to post audio of it
