a few weeks ago i turned on my desktop and explorer.exe was hanging indefinitely (even after restarting the task in task manager and my system repeatedly), which i eventually realized was because microsoft edge was running??? killing it made explorer.exe start working again
i guess a windows update reassigned edge as an app to open on startup, and it is very fitting of microsoft trying to shove edge on me, even at the cost of the entire system not working as a result
