except my most vivid memories of playing it were in the backseat of my dad's van because it's where the cigarette lighter was, and i don't think i ever got past labyrinth zone

the personal blog of the "no longer in their 20s" owner of the above blog, where i:
• play and write about video games (usually old ones i guess but anything goes)
• go thrifting for cool electronics / things that deserve to be tinkered with and fixed
• ignore my unimportant job as much as i can
• melt my brain with the weed (mute "#weed log" to mute me posting while high if you want)
in that order
not really nsfw but no minors please and thank

i only ever played this on the ps2 mega collection and probably never made it past the first zone but i always thought that island view was so cool. that's a whole little place where sonic and his critter buddies live. what adventures they must go on. powerful image
yeah that's true, i wish other sonic games did the overview map where it shows where the level takes you physically like sonic 1 8-bit does
although i'm willing to bet it was the idea of (the somewhat uncredited, even dummying the credit text out of the title screen) yuzo koshiro's company, ancient, since sega contracted them to develop a port of sonic 1 for the master system / game gear and it was the second sonic game ever made so there wasn't really a standard yet
oh that's the good shit right there (I think given all the differences between the two versions, I'd still slightly favor the Master System version, but you can tell they've given the Game Gear port a little more time in the oven)
i'd definitely prefer the master system version as well, although imo game gear sonic 1 retains much more enjoyability than game gear sonic 2, i own both versions of 2 and hooo fuck that screen crunch is a killer
