Cyberpunk is now SOOOO much better! Only in the prologue on my restart, and the skill tree already makes a world of difference. Instead of percentage point improvements (there are some of those still, of course), now I'm deflecting bullets back at enemies with swords, auto-rushing toward them for power attacks, and slowing down time just by aiming down the sights with a pistol

Is the immersive sim comp valid? That's honestly put it on my "circle back in Q1 when the release schedule dies down" list. What I wanted out of Cyberpunk was "Open World Deus Ex" and it seems like they got much closer to that with this "2.0" update?

Lord no. Or if it is, I'm not creative enough to go that route. It's still very much "Future GTA the RPG," but the new skill trees have turned it into a game with actual builds and simply more fun gameplay. They also VASTLY simplified the crafting/loot side of things.

I already liked it (probably an 8.0 after the initial fixes, on PC at least), but this update seems like it's a pretty easy push into the 9 range for my personal rating. It's not Deus Ex, but it's damn good for what it is

Hmmm 🤔 I still find myself intrigued by new skill trees -> meaningfully different builds and simplified crafting/looting, the lack of which were turnoffs when I played the demo of 1.0.

Looking forward to giving it a go next year. Might create an alt so I reset my timer on the demo 😅

On the crafting/inventory side, a TON of improvements.

  1. No more upgrading the same weapon every time you level up. Now upgrades only work on "Iconic" weapons, and it's just upgrading rarity level (so like 5 upgrades max I think)?
  2. Each weapon type has the same base stats. So you pick up a Nova revolver, every other Nova is gonna be the same.
  3. Clothes don't give you armor (a few exceptions, like bulletproof vests giving you a little). Instead armor comes from Cyberware
  4. Healing items and throwable weapons are no longer "quantity" items. So you don't have to go around carrying 100 healing items. Instead, once you pick one up, it's in your inventory, and recharges upon use.

Unrelated, on PC, the DLSS 3.5 update is FANTASTIC. Instead of the world having all these crazy and distracting reflections, it just feels like how light works in the real world. And it seems to have given me about 15% performance improvement
