Seriously, how the hell did I not know who Brandon Sanderson was until like 3 months ago? Every book is basically like if you combined GRRM's penchant for the epic, Stephen King's ability to build a character somehow over both 1000 pages and 2 (for that particular trick, you gotta check out Tommyknockers; sure, he hates it, and it's not great, but there's a sequence about 2/3 of the way through where he introduces and then kills off like 10 characters you think are going to save the day, and it's fucking amazing), and anime/Matrix logic when it comes to fights.

Pat, I know I told you to try Mistborn first, but fuck that. When you get to it, just start off with Way of Kings. Mistborn is great, but the Stormlight Archive (Way of Kings is book 1) is a whole other level. And I'm only 2/3 through book 2 (of 4 so far, with 2 more coming).

They're so damn good. Godspeed to the crazy bastard who finally decides to try to turn one of these into a movie/show.

Haha, to be clear, ain't nothing wrong with Mistborn. Really depends on what you're more in the mood for. Mistborn is more singularly focused on one storyline and primarily one POV character (it spreads out a bit more as the series progresses), whereas Stormlight is more of a sprawling, multiple threads all slowly coming together type series.

I'm halfway through the second book, myself! Haven't tried Mistborn yet, though I've obviously heard great things. But yeah, this series is fan-fucking-tastic. I love the characters, and the world building is sublime.
