I get this a lot of course. People fleeing from other sites often ask around for alternatives and I will go out and say "you know, Mastodon and Cohost are pretty nice actually", but why should you care about this site? My list is simple:

  • This isn't your typical megacorporation, in fact, this site is being ran by like 4 people.
  • And these people firmly believe in not tracking you in any way, not even with ads.
  • This place is free from algorithm hell. In fact, the only visible numbers are comments, by design!
  • Your posts can have tons of customization via CSS. If you don't know how to be fancy, there are sites that make this easy! 1 2
  • Posts have basically no character limit. You WILL spend several minutes reading a single post about something, anything really.

And we also have other stuff like:

  • You have 2 TLs here: People you follow, and tags you follow. If you're new and you don't know who to follow, you can start by following tags, multiple at once!
  • You can create multiple blogs under the same email, without needing to create a new account on the site, completely independent from each other.
  • You can just ask people now! And, if that user allows for it, also ask anonymously without even needing to be logged in!
  • People here are nice! Comments on posts are incentivized, since it's the only number tracked on a post.
  • The dev team is as transparent with its userbase as I can imagine with this site, even when it puts them on a bad light. Very few companies dare to be this honest.
  • Eggbug :eggbug:

So yeah, if you're really looking for alternatives, this site deserves your time! Go crazy.
