This one, on the other hand, is absolutely a birthday present. >:D Happy birthday, @Hexephre!!!!!!!!!

This was the drawing I originally had in mind for you for AF, but couldn't find any pics of Rephe. When you posted her a couple weeks ago, it felt like Fate. Anyway, hope I nailed down the Kingdom Hearts vibes! I had screenshots open as refs the entire time I was drawing this.

i finished this during Dragon Week so i had to wait to post it lol

Sendiri is the head of the guard in Drakavel. she's basically the third founder of the city. thanks to her Companionship with Enthel, she's lived much, much longer than a Wevlin's natural lifespan, and is still limber and strong.

sen has needed a design update literally since i first designed her. she was originally based off a flight rising dragon of mine, but i've been needing to decouple my ocs from their inspirations, and she's needed it the most.

being that she's a huge part of the reason the guard exists in the first place – and that zaliz's colour scheme is also blue – the drakavellian guard uniform is designed to complement her. the two large horns on her head are her own; the rest of the smaller spikes are part of the armour. do not talk to me about practicality, i don't know shit. i'm sure they will all stab themselves by accident but it's FINE

a group photo of all the masters together! mostly because i wanted to ramble a bit more about the process as a whole.

i've had sketches of these guys kicking around for years. i mean, to be fair, most of my unfinished work has been kicking around for years. but i'd always wanted to get them done, and i started churning on them and then realized it was smaugust, so what better time to buckle down and Just Do It?

my primary focus when it comes to design is shape and silhouette. i don't think much about patterns, and colour is something i'm kind of in the middle of grasping. it shows in my choice of clothing irl - i rarely choose prints, typically going for solid colours and graphic tees. i really have to push myself to come up with patterns for my ocs, but that's something i wanted to do with these guys.

as i said in the post for movement, these are going to be in a comic, and i'm going to hate myself for desigining them this way then. their involvement in the story is yet to be solidified, but at least a couple of them will feature semi-prominently. i'm not saying i'm going to pick the ones that are the easiest to draw... but i might pick the ones that are the easiest to draw. we'll see if the story demands something different.

there is one more dragon i'm working on designing, but he's a major character in the story and i need to get him right. but i finally sketched something the other day that felt Right, so i'm going to push on that and see if i can fit him in for smaugust.
