any writer who just like. Makes robots, androids, whatever look exactly like humans are COWARDS. I want robo-people who are semi-mechanical, I want faceplates, I want big seams, I want obvious power sources, I want weirdly skeletal robot arms, I want fuckin dieselpunk automatons, ANYTHING but "humans but with some LED lights" No.613!
Ok but consider the following:
- Androids who look very human but are uncanny because their eyes are filled with constantly streaming data
- Androids who can Sometimes Not Move Like people in drastic situations (Mission critical job meets Existence Questioning circumstance), like even in certain circumstances you could have this perfectly normal looking woman pick up a couch effortlessly.
- While we're at it, I like weird solid-fluid robots that can look totally human but can transform at will or squeeze through bars (Like the Terminator movies!)
- Consider Her. (two different designs of my desktop AI whose intent is to be user friendly, so of course she has to look the part when she ends up getting a military grade android body to swap into)
