I like Discord on its base ideas, emotes, embeds, bot API, all that, but it'd be cool to have something like it but I can just make terrible/stylized messages confined to that message. Something very flexible with input that can be used for extra storytelling formatting.
That sounds terrible
I know! Here's my wishlist.
- Full Markdown. None of that watered down BS. Give me headings and lists or give me death. Let me put an HTML div that lets you put a fancy slip of paper with selectable text.
- Macro lists. Lets you configure keywords to be replaced through regex, so you could stylize names or objects. EG "Maddie" (An important character) turns into Maddie or you can specify a whole list of important objects to apply a sexy, user specified style to those Important Mystical Whatevers
- Threaded. Threads threads threads. Me and my friends write an RP and we use threads to organize who's the DM for the specific "event". I think there should be just regular channels, but I think there should be Threaded channels for this or something, whatever works best for OOC and storytelling to coexist.
- Consequentially, wouldn't it be cool if you could add default styles to messages as the DM? Maybe!
- No distractions. This doesn't need voice chats or anything, though custom emotes would be cool, probably either hosted on the server or users would need to hotlink their own.
- Uploads should just work the same.
- Built in "personas", lets you change a profile for a single message, or multiple, maybe it's a dropdown near the send button. This could be some silly auxillery feature for stuff like in-universe servers or something.
Thanks for coming to my tedtalk
All I really want is something to expand text based storytelling. Nothing that caters to the whole *-based stuff, something that lets you immerse each other, just a bit better. I want, when my characters are scared to shake and I want to have the power of cohost in a chat app catered to this sort of thing.
Sounds like a terrible idea, but it could be cool.
