I can't find an example of the trope for the life of me but there's one i remember where Hemingway is coming up with a list of topics for a short story, ending up with "man tries to catch fish; fish too big", rejecting ideas like "man tries to eat hot dog; hot dog doesn't fit"

I really don't like how I can't like comments on cohost, it makes it hard to communicate tone while talking y'know
