Last night we constructed a rudimentary light table using our softbox, a picture frame and a piece of ANR glass. Using our tripod as a copy stand, we thought we would give it a try for DSLR film scanning. We used a 7mm extension tube with a pentax 50mm f/2 lens, which seemed to give the best results and framing for 35mm.
What do the results look like? Amazingly sharp and fantastic dynamic range! The example image was over-exposed by at least a stop or two, and the DSLR was more than capable of extracting incredible detail down to the grain from the cooked negative.
