thoughts
-First episode: shaky for me just because I feel like cancel culture jokes are overplayed, though at the same time I appreciate the show trying to reckon with what was considered ok in the early 00s (when… I was in high school). Second episode feels more like Clone High.
-A lot of people want Gandhi back in the show but I cannot blame Lord & Miller for wanting to avoid a second international incident.
-I saw “Topher Bus” in the opening and went “who is… OH”
-Bringing back Christa Miller as a totally different character and recasting Mitra Jouhari as Cleopatra? Love it.
-You can really hear that 20 years in Will Forte’s voice sometimes.
-I rewatched s1 after watching these episodes and forgot Frida Kahlo was a background character and looks totally different? Must’ve been cloned again.
-Also re: s1: I kinda love how flat everything is? They’re trying to incorporate a little more depth into the character design this time around (even JFK’s collar is more than just two triangles) and I get it but also I think the originals work so well. I am a Joan’s forehead defender.
-Speaking of depth: I hope they flesh out Frida and Harriet’s personalities more. Not that Clone High was ever a complex character study but you know what I mean.
-Fingers crossed for a clone Leon Trotsky as Frida’s ex-boyfriend.
-Theme still bangs
-“singles doubles tandem biking competiton”
-“Tom Cruise. Kokomo”
