Don't panic. Hiring teachers is a nightmare for everybody involved; they're not going to restart the whole process just because they have to wait a couple extra weeks to file a physical.

  • Talk to your school's union rep. Even if you aren't in the union, they're there to make the working lives of teachers better, and they usually have seen stuff like this before. They might know what specifically to do.

  • Talk to the folks who hired you! Be clear about what happened and why. They wanted you in the first place.

  • Get your appointment in writing so you can show it to people. Often times schools can/will defer criteria for employment just to get folks in the door. If you can show your school "hey this is going to happen" it probably will be good enough for now.

  • Maybe check around your insurance network for other doctors, if you can travel. I often go to the doctor/pharmacy/etc in the tiny half-dead town 20 minutes away because they don't have a city trying to go to them.

You're gonna be okay. I'm so sorry this is one more goddamn thing after all those other goddamn things. Good luck!

Yeah, I’ve spoken to the person handling my application and I’m trying to work something out. Also talking to a union rep about it ASAP. I appreciate the support, this is just an unreal amount of hoops to jump through
