I don't think this is even close to replicating the aesthetics of Auto Modellista, but just this cartoon filter was enough to give me a new joy in Assetto Corsa.
This also made me think about the recent Forza title emphasizing so hard on realism that rather caused a lot of fuss about graphics. I could see their attempt on how to achieve realism, especially with the tracks that have some impressive details and the atmosphere that 'I could relate to'. But the issue is most of the visuals ended up feeling so flat and bleak, and with car modeling issues it also caused some disharmony as well.
I'm (at least trying to) not here to lambaste on Forza, since I haven't even played it yet. It's that I feel achieving 'realistic graphics' definitely does not mean 'impressive graphics'. It was more interesting to find out how developers tried to develop aesthetics/vibes while dealing with hardware limitations than major studios' promo material that throw bunch of big technology terms and numbers to showcase their graphics. In the end, I play video games to have memorable joy than to be mesmerized by the technology.
