Whenever some AAA studio releases some jank garbage and then years later improves it to a playable level, people instantly pull out the No Man's Sky comparisons. This fucking sucks. I would very much like to remind yall that Hello Games is a small studio (26 employees in 2020 according to wikipedia, they were even smaller before then) and they lost their office and a ton of work in a flood during development. What excuse do Bethesda or CDPR have other than fuckin atrocious management and employee abuse? The way gamers are so quick to rehabilitate their reputations is sickening to me.
No Man's Sky's 2016 release didn't expose my computer to remote code execution. Hello Games never leaked my private information through sheer willful incompetence. Hello Games never, to my knowledge, engaged in blatant shameless transphobia.
No Man's Sky wasn't even that buggy at launch. It was merely underwhelming and overhyped by marketing. I could not give a single shit that those other trainwrecks are "fun" now. The executives who caused those trainwrecks suffered little to no consequences for them.

Remembering that in the weeks/months immediately following NMS' launch, there was a pinned post on the No Man's Sky subreddit with formatted tables of "Features Sean Murray promised" and "Actual delivered feature" with links to interviews and videos presented as "evidence" that he had personally lied about the game.1 To my knowledge, other games did not get the same vindictive treatment for falling short of expectations.2
1. Do I think Sony has culpability for putting a small game studio up on their stage to generate hype for the PS4 and then left them out to dry when said studio started struggling to meet the expectations generated by PR? Maybe.
2. I do not want other game studios and executives to get this vindictive and fucked up treatment, I just want to point out the lengths to which seemingly jilted gamers acted as though NMS being underwhelming at launch was going back on some kind of contractual obligation.
Snaz up pretty good
Going to play just a little of the new Nova Drift update and chill out
