I will repost this, because I love to talk, but also to add some other subjects I like:

  • MST3K
  • Physical media
  • Power Rangers / Super Sentai
  • Dwarf Fortress
  • RimWorld
  • Sports Video Games

My mods in Dwarf Fortress: I have started with 10 dwarves instead of 7 and also my UI is better.

My mods in RimWorld: I have the entirety of Vanilla Expanded, and I have mashed up a collection of Star Wars and Elder Scrolls mods. Everytime my Fett Clones cut down too many trees a Spriggan kicks our ass because our blasters aren't nearly powerful enough.

been playing a bunch of Dwarf Fortress recently, and it's wild how much I don't want mods. Like, I don't really want to engage with DFHack anymore. I don't even look at the Steam Workshop much anymore.

However, with RimWorld I feel like you need mods. Stack size increasing and tilled soil are basically a must-have for me, not to mention a lot of the Vanilla Expanded stuff. I'm a little bit of a freak in having 100+ mods installed, but even on my most vanilla play through I'm running at least 10 QoL mods.

This isn't to say that Dwarf Fortress is a perfect game! There are tons of things I'd love to see fixed, like things I find frustrating about the UI in general, work orders organization improvements, and general keybinding losses from Free to Steam. I's also bet there are mods that are fun to play! I just don't feel the need. The game, as exists, is just cool enough for me.
