Watched the Bray Wyatt documentary. Here are some scattered thoughts.
People have said this a bunch, but kids love horror. Seeing all those kids wearing The Fiend masks rules so hard. Kids loved The Fiend, kids loved that spooky character and it's so fun to see it.
I don't know why they insist on putting little title cards all over the place saying that the following audio/video is from unreleased archival footage. Yeah. That's the point of documentaries like this! It's like putting "this is about Bray Wyatt" every 20 or so minutes.
I know it's WWE produced, so they can't say "we never let him have that forward momentum", but like... that seems to be a recurring thing with a lot of the big stories with him. Why is he losing to The Undertaker after The Streak has been beaten1? Why is he losing to Randy Orton twice? Why did he immediately lose after beating Cena in that amazing Firefly Funhouse match? Why is he losing to Goldberg? Wins and losses aren't everything, but it really felt like these losses were to set everything back to square one. They talk a bit about The Fiend being burned after the Inferno Match and how the costume change was hellish logistically, but like... maybe don't have him lose that match maybe? Let his carry that momentum forward?
His death looms over the whole thing, obviously, but when they get to his actual passing... man. He was 36. My wife is around that age. I'm not quite 30 yet. He was so young, and seeing all his friends and family talk about him and how he impacted all their lives. It fucking got to me, man.
... And then The Undertaker is like "something something the WWE Universe" and I'm completely taken out by corporate branding lmao. No more tears, only laughing at how silly the phrase "WWE Universe" is in comparison to these people mourning their friend and family. Also extremely pro wrestling to have a tease for something at the end of a documentary that ends with a "in loving memory" dedication lmao

also, why do you have The Undertaker doing anything post-streak, tbh. You blew it by having the streak broken by the world's least entertaining thumb, what are we doing bringing this old old man out to not even have the decency to let the old old man lose and give a rub and pass the torch.
