I haven't been able to do much art lately so I thought I'd share some of the games I've been playing and enjoying 🙂
I like making lists it makes my brain happy and I feel a little less overwhelmed when I write my thoughts down. Just a heads up I did receive Smushi Come Home and Let's Revolution game keys as PR Copies. I was not paid for any sort of promotion. I just really liked the games. Plus, I'll always be honest about the good parts as well some elements I think need work in the game💜
🔍Been playing Tangle Tower a murder mystery narrative, puzzle game. It's been nice since my partner and I have very different games likes and we've been playing this one together. They are pretty good at puzzles and I'm good at seeing the small details so we make a good team. The artwork kinda reminds a bit of Dixit art style which is awesome since I love those games. I haven't finished the game yet and I'm curious where the story will take me. The music and over all eerie ambience has me hooked. Makes want to go back and finish the game Strange Horiticulture as well. I found it on sale in the Playstation store for a great price but it's also on Steam as well. https://store.steampowered.com/app/359510/Tangle_Tower/
🍄Smushi Come Home has been a delight to play. I loved a Short Hike and Smushi gives me all those good feelings. The open world exploring and small cute quests are sweet and fun. The glider and the bouncy flowers are the best. All the sound designs in the game are wonderfully stimmy for my brain. I found myself squeaking with joy when bouncing on the flowers or running through the mushrooms 🥰 There are so many cute creature friends and fun mushrom hats! One note is, I do feel the in game font is hard to read so I hope there are future font options available as there is a really neat mycology journal in there that I currently can't read super well. I am dyslexic and have a hard time reading in general. Open Dyslexic Font isn't perfect but it helps, I hope more games start including it as a font option. All in all, I think it's a lovely chill game and I am happy to play more on/off stream. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1740300/Smushi_Come_Home/
🌧️Against the Storm continues to be a favourite of mine. Just a gorgeous game with all the rainy vibes and goth/steam punk atmosphere. If you like the beginning of city builders before they get too fiddly I think you may enjoy it. There's also a lot different play styles which can make it more approachable for a wider audience. Oh yeah and they are cute beavers, foxes and harpies and other neat friends as well. It is a roguelike so it does have that element to it but I love roguelikes so I don't mind. The game play loop is engaging without being too repetitive as well. You're basically in a forrest that is hostile and actively trying to chuck you out while you work for an evil queen. I might do a full post on this game since it just has a lot going for it. Check it out if you like rainy forrest vibes. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1336490/Against_the_Storm/
⚔️Let's Revolution is a fun game to tap in and out of. It's nice to have a game where I can do shorter runs. It has minesweeper like game mechanics which I like a bunch. Gorgeous art style and great anti-royalist and anti-captialist themes. You chase an evil King through different maps with your selected type of player. There are a bunch of different players but currently I only have a warrior and rogue unlocked. I am excited to unlock the other characters to play. There are two play styles as well which is great for when you just want to chill or if you want to have a more challenging time depending on your mood or if you just like chill times in general. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2111090/Lets_Revolution/
🎒Backpack Hero has been a super fun roguelike dungeon crawler. I love the pixel art, it's so good. The overall dark atmosphere is also great for me since I have sensory issues with bright colours and white/black aesthetics in games. The overall theme of this game is a creative and inventive way of approaching roguelike games. I constantly have inventory managment in games haha. I even have a command in my stream since it comes up so much 😅 The idea that Backpack Hero took inventory management to a whole new level was so cool to me. You battle your way through dungeons and depending on what you have in your rucksack reflects on how you battle your opponents. There is also multiple heros to choose from that are more magic builds, pet builds, tanks and more! It's just a cool game I think folks should check out. If you enjoyed Slay the Spire or games adjacent to that then I think it may be your jam. It's still in early access and the devs are updating consistently which is nice. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1970580/Backpack_Hero/
That's it for today, I'm gonna go chill with my dogs and do some work stuff. Hope folks can have some nice moments today. If you're playing anything that gives you joy lately I'd be happy to hear about it 😊
