Universe of Dreams was an album I released back in 2018. The album art was done by InquisitiveRaven, and I love it. The overall theme of the album was "Dreams, Time, and Space". So the songs usually have titles that relate to those three things.
One of the major differences between this and other albums, is the use of "tonal samples", musical instruments that play notes or chords I didn't actually write, but wrote accompanying parts to. There are also drum loops as well.
-
Dream in Color : Probably one of the more popular songs on streaming services. A simple, happy piece of music.
-
Essence of Time : Pretty fun piece. Kind of a safe song, that doesn't really do anything exciting.
-
Lovely Planet : I call this one of my "Dual Songs", where it starts one way, switches to another completely different "song", then goes back to the original piece. Has a lovely muted trumpet melody, and then you hear the "explosion" and it switches to a different song.
-
Soar : I wish I could say the opening chords were me, but they aren't. However, they did inspire the rest of the song. Another fun piece with a catchy melody.
-
Joy Ride : Again, opening chords are not me. Inspired the whole song. I wrote the melody and bass line, among other elements. Also seems to be a pretty popular song on Spotify.
-
Lost in Space : Love the intro. Almost all of the songs on this album are positive vibes. Good use of bells at the lead instrument.
-
Chronology : Probably my least favorite song on the album. Nothing really wrong with it. I just don't find myself listening to it very often.
-
Black Hole : The entire intro (save for the bass) is not me at all. It's a huge sample from a sample library that I decided to use. Really sets up the whole song. Very strong piece. I imagine a space trucker going to their next destination with their cargo.
-
Controlled Chaos : This song was written before the album was conceived. "Controlled Chaos" refers to how the planets, stars and such zip around in space not really in control, but kinda? This song shifts around to different moods and tempos.
-
A New Horizon : Spacey song. I like this one a bit more than Chronology, but I don't think it does anything special. Not every song has to be a banger ;)
-
Universe of Dreams (Beyond Imagination) : Title track. Only song to feature a vocal sample. Song was originally written in 2009, and I consider it "Trip Hop". It's possibly one of my favorite songs, and this version is really great.
-
The Big Picture : The big spacey ending song. Looking at the universe as a whole. Seeing all the stars and stuff that are huge up close, but tiny from a distance. The size of the universe blows my mind.
I hope you enjoyed this album. Thanks for listening.
