Ugh, that's no way to spend a sunday. :-(
I hope you can fall asleep and that makes it better.
Thank you! I got a tiny bit of sleep since 1am last night when it first really hit. I'm just sitting up and resting for now.
I presume you've gone through Tylenol and Advil. Have you tried taking them together? Do you have prescription muscle relaxers (Baclofen, Zanaflex, etc.)? They work really well in-tandem, in my experience.
I typically take 1000mg (two extra strength) of Tylenol, 800mg (four pills) of Advil + 40mg (two 20mg tablets) of whatever spare Baclofen I have for this sort of thing. For whatever reason, I've been waking up with minor to major headaches for the past several years and that'll usually clear it up within an hour.
Failing that, try dosing up on some caffeine via coffee or soda.
Yeah, I have 650mg strength Tylenol. I already take it often for joint pain, so I've only been taking half pills since I had a full dose late last night. I do have some old Naproxen, if that helps.
That's good to know, thank you! I haven't taken Advil in a long time. I'm thinking that I've mostly narrowed this down to an allergy thing. I've never had a reaction like this, though.
I was able to nod off briefly, although it's been like 10 hours since the migraine fully hit and I still have some residual pressure.
Good news - I've found some Advil! It was just lying around in my messy room.
[Edit]: I took two, but it didn't help much. Later checked the expiration date and it expired two years ago. Welp.
If the meds are 2-3 years past their expiration date, there's still a chance that they work. If you felt they helped a little, try taking four (assuming they're each 200mg). That's a "normal" dosage.
Just don't abuse it like I used to (800mg 3-4 times a day for several years; I have my own chronic pain issues). I eventually ended up with ulcers that nearly bled me out. Went into the ER with with a hemoglobin of around 5.7, when a normal hemoglobin should be 14-18 (for an adult male). Without getting into what that means from a medical perspective, I'll at least tell ya that exerting the effort to walk on my own made me have to sit down, whilst walking up the stairs made me faint and fall back down.
And Tylenol ain't splendid for your liver, something else I had been occasionally abusing. Luckily, all my functions are (as of this past August) relatively normal. So, that was the wake-up call I needed to stop.
The only thing that works for me is silence and darkness. Seriously, a silent dark room. The migranes I get are usually visual, I'll slowly lose vision in one or both eyes. Head aches not so much.
I have been getting light flashes, but thankfully that's the worst of it visually. The rest has been persistent, dull-ish headaches and what seems to be sinus issues. Also reflux from some ramen I had last night.
I'm in the darkest room I can manage at home on a bright Sunday afternoon. Trying to limit my usual exposure to screens, but with the throbbing I can't really sleep very much and am sitting around bored...
Ah man I hate 'em.
Normally get either light flashes or like green static during the worse ones.
Not much you can do besides med up for the symptoms and live in darkness.
Good luck.
I keep getting the white flashes just out of the corner of my eye - it's a bit frightening and such a pain.
Yeah, it sucks because I had everything at max brightness before now.
Thank you!
