^Very good thread about the latest kusuriya episode, its use of architecture and the character acting and expression in its animations. Also a good opportunity to recommend the sakuga blog where the author of that thread also writes, it's a great place to read about animation and anime production!
Personally, I especially liked Maomao's goodbye gesture to Xiaolan (there's a video of that in the thread too!), but I want to also call attention to the pauses here, as good bits of character acting:
I just think it's neat when characters are shown doing these very natural pauses before responding to something! The way Maomao pauses and looks back a bit, but then doesn't even really stop what she's doing to reply to Jinshi, and the way it takes her a moment to stop what she's doing and then realise she's being offered something that she has to go and get. This is also probably part of this episode's depiction of Maomao getting more and more tired. Ah, and also the way she pauses to appreciate the bao (and her tired but happy expression :> )
