So, I have a phone interview in a few weeks for a clerical job with the city. Sounds like a job where I don't have to fight customers for a chair to sit in and can make a living.

I tell my Mom, and her first thought once she heard "clerical" was to tell me that I could do better with my degree. Does she expect me to just stay at my retail job that's stressing both my legs and my mind until this magical higher-tier job appears!? I only took on that retail job 6 years ago because she was gonna kick me out if I didn't...

Whats your degree in again man? Also what Hiryuu said degrees mean fuck all nowadays apart from specialised fields like law. Hell look at graduate jobs that still want you to have 1 years relevant work experince to make the same or even less somwtimes then somebody that did a year or two of just general work in the field. Like 2% of jobs will recongize a degree as gaining experince while every other place will see a degree as 0% experince and the equilvaent of somebody with no work experince and no degree
