The Ken I fought did every annoying trick in the book, including what felt like some inconveniently-timed frame drops. Patience and some good reads won out in the end, though.
these posts make me sad as a bronze 3 grinding level 8 cpu as i cant seem to get any matches in australia :(
Sorry to hear that. For what it's worth, if you can regularly beat Level 8 CPU you're doing really good!

i can regularly beat level 8 juri on ken modern but right now im learning ken classic and i can beat level 8 juri consistently enough
i think i need to improve my fundamentals though as i find myself never drive impacting and always blocking drive impacts in fear of being punished
also what the hell was that ken player doing? lmao
didnt block the level 3 then did a raw level 3 with no combo?
its even worse cause im a ken player so i know how he could have ensured it landed but NOPE!
That's very good progress! Classic can be trickier but it's much more rewarding in the long run. Best of luck as you keep getting better!
Just be careful about when and where you guard: Getting DI'd into a wall is the worst spot to be in. That said, I'm the same boat with Drive Rush. If you're fast enough it can become a Get-Out-of-Drive-Impact-Free Card, but I really don't use it in favor of Sprint.
Yeah, he slipped up quite a bit there. I was actually able to play a bit riskier than I usually do vs a Ken because they weren't doing the usual strings and such. He mostly just kept tossing stuff out there.
yeah im getting used to street fighters wall meta if you can even call it that. as wall presure is a lot more crucial in this game than damage and if you can keep your opponent in the wall they are essentially fucked unlike a game like mortal kombat where it doesnt really matter where you are cause you can do up to 50 percent in a single combo and im trying not to play too offensively as i need to make my opponent fight to get me in the corner and not just give them what they want by playing defensively and walking into the corner.
as for drive impact im really struggling with using it cause its always punishable besides a few exceptions so i mostly use it defensively if my opponent drive impacts or use drive parry up untill my opponent gets within grab range.
im starting to get as good as i was with ken in classic and its really rewarding but yesterday the level 8 juri cpu robbed my win and i felt like i was going to vomit because of how painfull it felt
i will try again today and hopefully i have more luck haha
il try to play online when ed drops as the playerbase usually rises significantly when a new character releases and selecting ranked or casuals just leaves me waiting
ive just gotten able to beat level 8 cpu consistently in classic now and it feels so good i posted about it
it took so much grinding to get there but its so satisfying that its paid off now
