if anyone wants to link to my blog ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘ˆ it's always been more of a yelling into the void thing than social media (as blogs are) but cohost has inspired me to share my passions so i'm gonna try and revive it.

i've already (over)shared about the impact cohost had on me when the announcement first dropped, so i'll keep this brief; cohost was far from perfect in a lot of ways (especially if you weren't white) but i don't know if i'll feel safe enough on any other site sharing as much of myself as i did here, and that sucks. also, cohost will always be memorable for introducing me to so many smart and passionate people, and i'm grateful for that.

OTHERWISE i'm not really going many places but am trying to get back into.......microblogging at bluesky under the name darkside-ashley.bsky.social ๐Ÿ›Œ if you haven't found me there yet and want to stay in touch, please follow me!

been on a real journey during your time here... congrats

to the extent that i'm going to miss cohost, it will be that it was a place where people like you started to feel comfortable posting for fun again after getting thoroughly burned out on twitter. a lot of folks are getting active on bluesky but to me that place is still too much pre-2016 twitter and not enough pre-2014 twitter, if you get what i mean

if anything, i'm hoping that something long-lived comes out of everyone dusting off old blogs and personal sites this last month. ten years or so ago that's how i kept up with most people's work, it would be nice if that came back at least a little bit. it seems like this place made a lot of people realize that they never liked modern social media to begin with. RETVRN, but specifically for ezboards with an anime subforum and three-digit user counts. stay safe out there, wherever you wind up post-cohost!

boy was i ever burned out on twitter, and i know exactly what you mean about bluesky...in general i've got more short posts in me than long posts, but when you gotta make a long post (or hell a medium one) you instantly start pre-emptively missing this place lol.

i agree! it'd be nice if this leads to a small revival of blogs and personal sites--i'm hoping to keep up with mine, starting with migrating old longposts there from my previous cohost account. hopefully the spirit of the best parts of cohost lives on that way ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

thank you for everything as always! mysterious fellow that you are, it's always nice knowing i have your support (and i always appreciate the christmas cards) be well! (and you know where else to find me if you end up on bsky anyway)
