Okay, at the end of a react video, Nerdy Daily had some really good commentary about the themes and story-line in this first season of X-Men '97 that express a lot of the feelings and ideas I wished I could articulate so I'm going to link it below under the cut starting at a timestamp after the episode finished.

The video below does contain spoilers but like I said, the commentary is important and I figure some people would like to see it.

The reason the title says "LARGELY no spoiler review" is because this review does contain episode titles and there's a pair of titles that directly reference a story-line from the comics as well as titles that may give comic readers a hint of what may be involved within.

By mid-season I knew X-Men '97 was something of higher quality than what Disney/Marvel Studios usually puts out. You can read my initial thoughts here: https://cohost.org/InsomniaInk/post/5524975-so-x-men-97-is-goo

I don't think I've ever written a review for anything before, ever, at all. But after that previous post I actually started keeping track of my general rating for each episode, which I'll post here under the cut along with the review:

There are 2 episodes left this season and due to the events of episode 8 and a spoiler of a scene that was included in one of the season promos on marvel's youtube channel, I know they're going to do a certain major thing from the comics. The reason I'm so certain they're going to do this thing is because if they didn't do it now there would be no third bite of the apple. The reason I say third bite is because the story that's very likely going to be adapted during these last 2 episodes was ALREADY adapted once during the original animated series, but was changed significantly to the point that a more faithful adaptation could still be made without retreading the same ideas.

X-Men '97 has already surprised people by adapting stories and events from the comics that no one thought was possible as part of an animated series due to their heavy nature, and have done so with depth and maturity that was also surprising. There's a particular important event that had major impacts upon the era that will very likely take place within these last two episodes. It's an event that has never been adapted from the comics in moving picture form despite it acting as a "gate" that must be unlocked to do certain other important stories. They've already shown from previous episodes that they are willing to GO THERE so I have no doubt that they're going to go there on this one. ...It's going to be interesting to see how they visually do it with a TV PG rating, but they're totally going to do it.

I'll say something under the cut that will spoil it to those who were reading the comics at the time, but it'll just give everyone else the means to look it up if they wish:

Also it looks like how they're visually doing that one part with a TV PG rating is to show the beginning of it as the very last scene in the 9th episode and, I would guess, show the aftermath of it at the beginning of the 10th.

And this is almost a guarantee of what story-line they're doing in the next season.
