I have so far avoided the pink haired anime girl appreciation post, and also I no longer think I need to go "what happens if I post color of the sky" because the stress test on excessively long posts is already happening.

Anyways collapsing those kinds of absurdly long posts is part of why I like Mastodon CWs, at least for instances like mine where the character limit is high enough to write small essays. >.>

Suddenly remembering an issue I also had with Tumblr, or at least certain more prolific blogs/social circles: you'd see the same post 15 times in reverse chronological order if there was a conversation happening through reblogs, or multiple blogs reblogging it/making their own additions as they went. I don't know if "only show the latest post in X share branch" is feasible, let alone how well it'd solve the PHAGAP (a dangerous acronym to pronounce) problem, but I'm gonna release the idea into the ether 'cuz heck it, might as well put that energy out there.

in reply to @Inumo's post:

So individual posts auto collapse under read mores on here but the issue with the anime girls is that each contribution to the threadwould collapse automatically if that contribution was long enough but the threads of additions as a whole were not programmed to collapse of their total accumulated length exceeds a certain length.

Which I'm sure will be fixed eventually

Yeah, I figured this case was probably something like that. The specific test I was thinking of w/ color of the sky was it seemed like some fairly lengthy posts wouldn't get read more'd if someone shared & added not-read-more-worthy commentary to the post? But I wasn't sure, and now I imagine any fix to "this post has so many shares & takes up so much screen real estate" will also cover any scenario like that as well.
