Are all those forms of tentacle things and plants incapable of forming words somehow? Even in the case of bending tendrils/vines into the shapes of letters? Is there no other means of communication they can use? Perhaps you should consider extraverbal means of communication for your consent checks unique to such non-human forms of life, if that matters to you

also as is the case for ANY "rule" with fantasy kinks there is always wiggle room you just have to accept as being fine in order to move forward.

tbh i like the shock of being snatched up by a creature that's acting on impulse. and then there's the bondage factor inherent to the general form.
i think what really gets me is that the harkness test assumes we're talking about some sort of theoretical reality when like... it's not real at all? these aren't real creatures and we're not really interacting with them? it's all a fantasy totally disconnected from any reality.

Hey you won't get any argument from me, I love that whole gettin-snatched vibe from either end.

The harkness test is as useful a tool as you let it be, and TBH all my prattling about it really boils down to it being the MOST useful for people who haven't spent nearly as much time thinking about this and what consent/sex/kink means for them. It is an entrypoint, what you do with that when you're past needing it is up to you.

in other words I am now at the stage where if someone tries to ask me "is everyone giving consent in this scenario??" like an accusation of great moral import, I am gonna just say "yes shut up, if it doesn't look that way it's cuz I have fetishes and needs and wants you don't" because I am officially too tired to have that conversation again and I'm not even 30 yet, lmao

When someone comes up with a more expansive shorthand than the harkness test for weird kinky nonhuman sex I'll probably consider using that instead
