I am known as Marth. Emblem Marth, to be clear.

Thinking about the OG Famicom Fire Emblem protagonist. Thinking about how this is the fourth time I've seen new characters summon him to their world as a combination of coach, teammate and JoJo Stand. Feeling like whenever Marth isn't on-screen, everybody's asking "Where's Marth?"

Thinking about how the character was so influential to the FE series, and in turn Smash's roster, that "blue-haired swordsman" is a Smash cliché now. Thinking about how in Ultraman and Kamen Rider, the original protagonist of each series was named, well, Ultraman and Kamen Rider, but the protagonists of subsequent shows are named things like Ultraman Tiga and Kamen Rider Blade, and each bear faint design cues of their progenitor. Considering Marth But A Girl, Marth But Big and Marth But Red.

Thinking about how I've seen Marth in so many games now but still can't really pin much of a personality on him longer than three words. Thinking about how the main protagonist in manga and game character polls invariably wins first place even when their personality is just sort of being a nice and brave boy and that's it, if they even have dialogue at all.

Thinking about how Marth is voiced by Yuri Lowenthall. Remembering that one time there was a Nintendo Direct and Yuri Lowenthall was narrating it like "Everyone, this is Marth speaking!" and how I guess we were expected to go "Wow. Wow! Marth's here everybody!"

Thinking about the way Fire Emblem has a reputation for being self-referential even though its foundational Famicom and Super Famicom games were not made playable in western countries until well into the 2000s, if at all. Keeping in mind the fact that western players are rarely more than a secondary concern to japanese devs, at best. Still, though. Wondering if Marth actually has a personality. Thinking it could be nice to play the original Fire Emblem, but remembering I was told it hasn't aged well.

And I don't even DISLIKE Marth! I actually wish I could feel a way, any way, about Marth. So I guess it's okay to be done thinking about Marth, for now.
