The specific third space everyone longs for as an adult is the cafeteria. You all just miss the cafeteria. You miss going to the dining hall and the whole community of people you know are there. You want to be able to go somewhere and be around friends without explicitly having to make plans to hang out.

yes, exactly

I want cafeterias, and dorm lounges, and student centers, and libraries, all back and easily accessible and regularly visited by real adults.

I don't want everyone so drowned in work and consumerism every single day to the point that they don't have the time or ability to commune.

I want human interaction, god damnit.

yes we know they exist, we want one closer :)

and with more seating (city libraries are always low on seating, which we're pretty sure is due to politics not lack of desire)

but yes! all of these

my uni didn’t have a cafeteria but just now appreciating the friend who made the local coffee shop such a staple for our group where any of us could roll up and he and a few others might already be there and we could hang without planning to do so

i also want spaces in the library for different types of interaction! my college library had about five floors, starting with the ground floor and going down. the deeper you got, the quieter it got — open chatting and study groups on the top levels with a cafe and lots of seating, and everyone had a story about being glared at in ‘the dungeon’ for turning pages in a book too aggressively
