Don’t give me villains who are tortured by their tragic nature. I have had enough of the well intentioned, but ultimately misguided. I grow weary of the justified tortured soul who goes just a bit too far. Spare me the petty bureaucrats and blustering bullies.

Give. Me. Evil.

Give me monsters who revel in their power. Give me evil queens fueled by dark magic and spite. Give me dragons that hunt the countryside because they are hungry and no one can stop them. I want creatures spawned from the deepest pits who owns their sadism, and megalomaniacal sorceresses that seek world conquest because they have the Power and Will to do so.

Let them chew the scenery, let them construct and monologue about elaborate plans, make them camp, make them vicious, and make them have a breakdown in the third act when their plans are undone:

But make the heroes the marginalized people.

Let us have tales where people who are not cishet neurotypical white men get to have uncomplicated villains. Let us have stories with people like us triumphing over villains we love to hate or just love to thirst over. The villains can still be coded queer, as long as the heroes are explicitly so.

Let us have the fairytales that we never got growing up.

this is long but we do hope people will read and think about it

it's not any sort of final treatise on the correct way to do culture, culture is a living, breathing thing. but people just reading this and thinking about it is a big deal, a meaningful step to nudge things in good directions. hopefully we'll have more nudging opportunities over time.
