yeah, but it also kinda came off as me Doing The Same Thing <_<
but it's sorta been a thing haunting me for a few years
I think a related thing is also that like, (general "you") if you're Not Egregious But Still Causing Issues people will politely ignore instead of telling you, because other people like that have reacted badly, and that leads to this like, loose spiral of people moving that way because people who can't deal just drift out of their life until all that's left in that sphere is people at least Okay With It. And then that comes around and changes the baseline. but that thought isn't nearly as developed, though I guess it does dovetail with the end of the previous one boiling down to "without any actual way to control bad actors, outlaw justice is all that's left"

I don't think it's wrong to look at greater causes, I was just venting at the specific phenomenon of behaviour that feels very 'twitter everywhere'
one thing I really like about cohost is I don't have to treat it like I'm being stalked and can just follow whoever interests me without fear of giving that person a panic attack if I unfollow them later
yeah i uh. do not miss that part of twitter at all. and had sorta forgotten people tracked who unfollowed them x.x
(though I wonder if some of the reason a lot of other people don't do the feed curation you mention, and instead see it as being Subjected to Posts, is follow/mute are seen as social tools and not like, curatorial ones. idk. maybe it isn't obvious and its just that I'm old enough that RSS metaphors have permanently imprinted on my brain in terms of follows/subscriptions)
