what if you could make another kind of post on here. select a Type II post from the dropdown menu and it makes one that acts more like Twitter, for a casual conversation. it's User's Choice whether to make a Type I post or a Type II post. You could also make a Type III post but nobody does that

Type II has a spread shot. Type III has one of those technical shots that’s really hard to get a good score with

I've really been thinking a lot about how the major failure mode of social media is people being unable to distinguish:

  • Discussion Root
  • Request for First-Order Knowledge Of A Thing
  • Banter among friends (you must be a friend)
  • Article Post (comments encouraged)
  • Joke (don't ruin it or repeat it at me)
  • Joke (if you can read the room you can stone soup this)
  • Serious Post
  • Politics / Get The Word Out (yes we all know it's capitalism, connor)
  • Neurodiverse - Not Otherwise Specified (contextual)

or, tldr, people are terrible at knowing if a post is chat or Reddit/news comments brain and it's infuriating

alsoplus like... the specific kinda shares on here that really do not understand I am a person (by volume) and have boundaries that most people do, and making my post about things that aren't sexual into sexual things crosses a line when it's not inviting that. that's the other kind of problem.

but i feel like categories would actually solve this and may end up figuring out css to make headers for them but really i wish people would just put energy into learning how to read the room I guess.

Yeah I would love if posts without titles had, a more compact UI around them so I felt more comfortable just dashing them off. I feel too intimidated by the good posts on here to just say what comes to mind, even though I know I should.
