Just saw something I wrote reposted on my timeline without the context to be clowned on for the hot take of "I like seeing some old games in higher quality to appreciate the work the developers put in textures and models." Someone, also singling me out as the birther of discourse when what I've seen of these posts popping back up on my timeline here and there was just people sharing thoughts about a topic from varying degrees.
And the posting just felt really hostile. Like...what did I do to you? I did a single repost with some thoughts and that was it.
This honestly hit me in a way I wasn't expecting. That was just...a really shitty thing to do.
I left twitter partly to avoid this sort of behavior. With this and the Orientalism shitshow, it feels like we're on the verge of reinventing main character posting and could we not? Could we not bring back the toxic culture of twitter?
I just needed to get that off my chest. I'm not naming anyone, and I was not named in the post, but, like, this fucking sucks. That was a shit thing to do. That was rude.
I have genuinely felt for a bit that we're cropping back into old behaviors and patterns and this was the first time something posted on this site gave me a flashback to twitter, where I randomly got my mentions flooded with people calling me the R-slur and I'm just not okay with seeing this on here.
This sucks! And you can't blame the site architecture this time. I'm genuinely starting to feel worried for the future of this site on a cultural level for the first time.
